About this property

Welcome to Hôtel Maison du Fort

Hôtel Maison du Fort is housed in an 1851 Georgian-style building that combines historic charm with modern design elements. Guests can expect quaint rooms, some of which feature four-poster beds and decorative fireplaces, delivering a cozy and distinctive atmosphere. Certain rooms include kitchen facilities, adding to the convenience for longer stays. The property emphasizes comfort with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and kid-friendly accommodation, though it does not have an elevator, pool, airport shuttle, or fitness center.

Located at 21 Av. Sainte-Geneviève in the heart of Old Quebec, the hotel offers easy access to the area’s key historic attractions such as Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, Quartier Petit Champlain, and The Citadelle of Québec. Many reviewers highlight the prime location as a significant advantage, pointing out the close proximity to restaurants, parks, and cultural sites, making it well-suited for visitors keen on exploring the city on foot.

While the property provides free breakfast and paid parking about a five-minute walk away, some guests note that parking fees and the distance to parking may be inconvenient, especially for those with mobility considerations. The hotel maintains a smoke-free policy and does not accommodate pets, which may influence guest choices. Rooms vary in size and layout, with some feeling small, but most are described as clean, thoughtfully updated, and blending old-world character with modern amenities.

Guest feedback demonstrates appreciation for attentive and friendly staff, as well as attention to detail in room amenities, including high-quality toiletries and thoughtful touches like snack drawers or Nespresso machines. However, some critiques mention limited space in certain rooms and the absence of an elevator, which can pose challenges for guests with heavy luggage or accessibility needs. Overall, this property is ideal for travelers seeking a central, historic setting with a blend of contemporary comfort and local character.

We stayed for one night over the weekend, along with another couple, in rooms 2 and 3. We had booked both rooms for around $400 each. The hotel is very well located, within walking distance of all the main attractions. Note that parking costs an additional $30 and is about a five-minute walk from the hotel. The building itself is beautiful, with a nice mix of ancestral charm and modern design. Room 2 felt a bit small — there was no seating area and limited space to hang clothes, aside from a few hooks. We also had a minor issue with the shower drain, though nothing major. Room 3, where our friends stayed, was a bit more spacious, but the air conditioning wasn’t working during their stay, which made the night a little uncomfortable. The staff did provide a fan, which helped somewhat, but no further compensation was offered. Breakfast was served at a different location about three minutes away. It was simple but tasty, with quality ingredients. Overall, we had a pleasant stay. The staff was warm and welcoming, and while there are a few things that could be improved — especially given the price point — the charm and location of the hotel still made it a nice experience.

We stayed two nights at around $450 per night. We stayed in room three and it was very clean and updated. The bar was a small fridge, not large enough for a takeout box, and a sink. There was a station to fill up water bottles. The Room brand soap and lotions that were provided were high quality. There is not breakfast included which was mentioned on our booking.com site. When I inquired about it, they said they would have to speak to the supervisor and then they were never around to follow up with me. The desk staff is not supervised for very many hours each day. It says that the rooms are air conditioned but the temp never went below 23 Celsius (73 F) so it stayed pretty warm on the hot summer days. The bed was about as hard as I could imagine a bed could be. The water pressure was minimal so taking a shower took a little while extra.

I had a wonderful stay at Hôtel Maison du Fort in the heart of Old Quebec. The hotel’s location is perfect, allowing easy access to all the charming spots in the area. The building beautifully blends historic charm with modern comforts, preserving original walls as accent features. I was impressed by the attention to detail, from the high-quality Nespresso machine with capsules to the luxurious shampoo and shower soap that smelled amazing. The room also had a small sink with an under-counter fridge and glasses, adding a nice touch of luxury. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and we appreciated the thoughtful note with instructions for our late check-in. The only minor downside is that there’s no elevator, and our room (number 6) was on the third floor, so keep that in mind if you have heavy luggage. Overall, it was a truly luxurious and memorable experience!

A great hotel in the old town. Newly renovated and very beautiful and comfortable. Stayed in the two level apartment. It is very quiet. Would definitely stay again.

The rooms, staff, and location at the Hôtel Maison du Fort cannot be beat! Our room was delightfully modern with touches of the old building throughout. The staff stayed late for us to check in because our bus was late, they were happy to help with finding our rental car location and where to park, provided recommendations about what to do around town, and were happy to provide restaurant recommendations. I couldn't believe how close we were to the Chateau Frontenac and all of the charm of Old Quebec. If you can stay here, do so!

The location of this hotel is perfect, it’s out of the city center and has parking. The room was well designed combining the bones of a very old building with modern decor. The front desk staff were really helpful, welcoming and friendly. The only suggestions I would make would be to clean the couch in the room, it seemed a bit dirty and to replace the milk in the mini fridge daily. We really were very happy with our stay!

Charming hotel in a perfect location! This hotel is absolutely adorable, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier — they made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. The highlight for me was definitely the location! It’s just steps away from a stunning river view and all the historic landmarks in Old Quebec. Most major sights are within easy walking distance, which made exploring the city a breeze. Our room (Room #2) was cozy, stylish, and thoughtfully designed. I loved the modern renovation — it felt fresh, elevated, and very inviting. The bathroom was a standout, featuring a huge double shower that felt like a luxury spa. I also really appreciated the snack drawer stocked with delicious treats, and the provided toiletries smelled incredible! Each morning, I looked forward to the fresh croissants available — such a lovely touch that made our stay even more enjoyable. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and honestly have no complaints. I’d absolutely recommend staying here and would return in a heartbeat.

Great location. Clean and wonderful service. However, $408 for room without a sitting area, no proper desk or dresser, and parking 2 blocks from the hotel. If you have mobility issues this place doesn't work. Frankly, it's cute but overpriced.
